They are tearing down my favorite barn to make way for a subdivision.
I thought I'd add a little more information about this grand barn. I think I have well over 1000 shots of it - digital and film. I've used it to test out every lens I own - every camera - pin-hole, view camera, digital, lomo, tlr, slr - whatever. I have photos of this wonderful barn taken with every camera and lens combination I own - I love this old barn that much.
I've been on the road for work for seemingly months. I came home late Friday and headed out to pick up Lainey from the kennel. I drive by the barn every day when I'm home. This time, I noticed the face was completely gone. I also noticed the residents were gone, and there is a HUGE developers sign out front. The place will soon be gone, to be replaced by homes that all look the same. Shameful.
The good news is there is another farm down the road (I've posted many photos of that farm, too) - they are taking that one down, too. However, the farmer was nice enough to donate the property to the Nature Conservancy - so we'll be able to keep bird breeding and nesting areas. There will also be nice nature trails. I like that ending better -- actually not so much and ending as much as a new beginning.
There you have it. Hope you're having a nice weekend. It's cold once again here in Chicago - go figure...
For those of you wanting a few tech specs -- I used my Nikon F100 and Kodak's b&w c41 film. I really like it a lot - I don't mind the color cast / toning at all. I could take it out by just desaturating -- but I think it adds to the overall feel. Oh, and I used my beloved 20mm lens -- and used my handheld meter for perfect exposure.
